Dual Season Begins With 7-0 Victory Over Richmond For Women's Tennis

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's tennis team opened its 2023 dual season with a 7-0 triumph over Richmond Sunday afternoon inside Jadwin Gymnasium, in Jamea Jackson's first dual match as Head Coach of the Tigers.
Princeton won the doubles point, with the team of Daria Frayman and Neha Velaga taking down Leonor Oliveira and Carly Cohen 6-4 at No. 1, Maia Sung and Grace Joyce overcoming Andrea Campodonoico and Marta Buendia 6-3 at No. 2, and Zoe Howard and Leena Bennetto earning a 6-4 win at No. 3 over Lara Bakhaya and Elizabeth Novak.
In singles, No. 4 Frayman knocked off Oliveira, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 1 position and Velaga defeated Cohen, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), at No. 2. At the No. 3 spot, Howard outlasted Campodonico 1-6, 6-3, 10-3, and Bennetto triumphed 6-1, 6-1 over Novak at No. 4. At No. 5, Sung prevailed 6-1, 6-2 over Paula Shitikova, and Joyce earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Buendia at No. 6.
