PRINCETON – The No. 16 Women's Water Polo team secured a split during the third day of the Princeton Winter Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
No. 16 Princeton 10, No. 12 UC Santa Barbara 8
Like the previous two games, the Tigers started fast with four of the first five goals. The Guachos scored two of the final three goals of the first half to set the score at 5-3 Princeton at halftime.
Both teams scored two goals each in the third quarter before UC Santa Barbara posted two straight tallies to begin the fourth stanza, tying the game at 7-all. Jovana Sekulic contributed her first goal just 14 seconds after the Gauchos' tally to put the Tigers back in front, 8-7, with 6:07 remaining. With two minutes to go, UC Santa Barbara evened the game before this Rachael Carver game-winner …
No. 17 Wagner 12, No. 16 Princeton 8
The Seahawks began the contest with four of the first five goals and led 6-2 after eight minutes. There was no scoring the second frame while Princeton closed the gap to three twice in the third frame. That was as close as the Tigers would get as they got within three tallies two more times in the fourth quarter but fell to Wagner.
