No. 14 Women's Water Polo Heads To Bucknell This Weekend

PRINCETON – The No. 14 Women's Water Polo team heads on the road for the Bucknell Invitational this weekend (Feb. 11-12).
The Tigers take on No. 21 LIU (11:15 a.m.) and Villanova (6:45 p.m.) on Saturday before a contest vs. Mt. St. Mary's on Sunday (2:15 p.m.) None of these games will be streamed and there are no live stats availabile.
Princeton is 4-1 this season with three ranked wins over No. 15 UC San Diego, No. 22 LIU and No. 12 UC Santa Barbara. The Tigers averaged 10 goals per contests led by Kayla Yelensky and Jovana Sekulic's combined 21 goals.
Rachael Carver was named Collegiate Water Polo Player of the Week after producing 17 points in four games with five goals and 12 assists. Against No. 15 UC San Diego, Carver added two tallies, two helpers and followed that with two goals, four assists and three steals vs. No. 22 LIU. She also added a goal and three helpers in each contest vs. No. 12 UC Santa Barbara and No 17 Wagner.
Lindsey Lucas collected CWPA Rookie/Defensive Player of the Week honors after the Princeton Winter Tournament. She made at least 12 stops in every game including 16 stops vs. No. 17 Wagner, producing a .591 save percentage.
Head coach Derek Ellingson's group returns seven of its eight 20+ goal scorers from last year including Yelensky and Sekulic. Kaila Carroll (47), Meera Burghardt (39), Carver (34), Laura Larkin (28) and Kate Mallery (22) also return for Princeton. Larkin collected All-America accolades showing an all-around game in 2022 with 28 goals, 20 assists, 26 steals and 13 drawn ejections in 26 games. She had seven multi-goal performances and seven multi-assist outings.
Princeton went 21-10 last season, placing third in the CWPA. The Tigers recorded eight wins over top-25 teams and posted at least 20 victories for the fourth straight full season.
