Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Ivy Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team earned a sweep of the Ivy League's weekly awards Monday, with sophomore Lucia Scalamandre honored as Player of the Week and freshman Kamryn Chaney Rookie of the Week.
The duo led the Tigers to a weekend sweep of Columbia and Cornell, first taking down the Lions, 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-13), on Oct. 13 then earning a 3-1 (26-24, 19-25, 25-20, 25-13) victory over the Big Red on Oct. 14.
Scalamandre led the Tigers in kills (26), kills per set (3.71), blocks (7) and blocks per set (1.00) while hitting .611. Against Columbia, Scalamandre had a match-high 11 kills on a .714 hitting percentage, three blocks, one service ace and one dig. She then recorded a team-high 15 kills on a .545 hitting percentage, three blocks, two digs and one service ace against the Big Red.
Chaney finished with 23 kills and averaged 3.29 kills per set, while also leading the team in service aces (9) and service aces per set (1.29). Chaney also tallied six blocks and five digs. In Princeton's win over the Lions, Chaney recorded 10 kills, three service aces, two blocks and two digs. Against Cornell, she recorded 13 kills, a match-high six service aces, three blocks and three digs.
Chaney's Rookie of the Week award was the third Rookie of the Week honor for the Tigers this season, as freshman Sydney Draper received the award on Sept. 4 and Sept. 25.
