No. 6 Men's Water Polo Earns Two Wins At Santa Clara Invite

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The No. 6 Princeton men's water polo team collected two ranked wins to begin the Santa Clara Invite.
No. 6 Princeton 16, No. 15 Pacific 9
George Caras dominated on the attacking side of the pool tallying three goals in the first 8 minutes while Pierce Maloney also found a goal in the first period, giving the Tigers a 4-2 advantage.
Finn LeSieur gave Princeton a goal early in the second period on a five-meter attempt to extend the lead to three. Later into the second period, Isaac Rotenberg, Mason Killion, and Maloney all found the back of the net to make it an 8-4 game heading into the half.
The third period started with Vladan Mitrovic scoring off of Maloney's assist. Pacific scored two goals in the middle of the third period, but JP Ohl and Mitrovic responded with a pair to put Princeton up 11-6 going into the 4th period.
The Tigers were never threatened the rest of the way.

The Spartans scored the first goal of the contest before the Tigers ripped off three straight to hold a two-goal advantage seven minutes in. The two teams exchanged tallies before Princeton held a 4-2 lead at halftime.
Princeton scored two of the first three goals of the second half, but San Jose State rallied with three consecutive tallies to tie the score at 6-all with eight minutes to go.
Mateja Bosic put the Spartans in front to begin the final stanza, but Maloney answered back a minute later. Both teams scored again before Yurian Quinones put Princeton in front for good with 2:45 left. Caras added an insurance tally with 32 seconds to go to put the game away.
Princeton finishes its West Coast Trip with contests vs. No. 4 Pepperdine (1:40 p.m., 10:40 a.m. PT) and Fresno Pacific (5:40 p.m., 2:40 p.m. PT) tomorrow.
