Hong's Four Wins Lead Princeton Past Columbia 202-95

The Princeton men's swimming and diving team defeated Columbia 202-95 Friday evening in DeNunzio Pool, making it three convincing wins over three Ivy League opponents to start the season.

Princeton, who took care of Dartmouth and Brown last weekend in its opening meets, won 12 of the 16 events against the Lions, going 1-2-3 in eight of them.

Freshman Aidan Wang continued his hot start to his collegiate diving career, who won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. This came one week after he set a school dual meet record in the 1-meter. Behind Wang, Princeton also had Taso Callanan, Luca Fassi and Joe Victor finish second, third and fourth in the 1-meter, while Callanan and Fassi finished 2-3 in the 3-meter.

Junior Tyler Hong had quite an evening himself, winning the 100 backstroke, the 200 IM and the 200 backstroke while also swimming on the winning 200 medley relay, along with Kael Mlinek, Yanning Zhang and Brett Feyerick, in the day's first event. Feyerick was part of the Tiger win in the 400 free relay to end the meet, along with Lucas Tudoras, Daniel Li and Adell Sabovic. Feyerick also won the 50 free.

John Ehling followed the medley relay win by taking first in the 1,000 free by more than 12 seconds. Next up was the 200 free, where Princeton had a 1-2-3 sweep from Maximilian Hunger, Noah Sech and Sabovic.

Hong's first individual win came in the backstroke, where Yanning Zhang and Parker Lenoce made it a 1-2-3 Princeton finish as wel. There was another one in the 200 fly, where Arthur Balva, Max Kreidl, Nicholas Lim and Conor McKenna made it 1-2-3-4.

Hong was followed by Lenoce and Feyerick in the 200 back, and it was 1-2-3-4 again in the 500 free as Ehling won his second event and Li, Arthur Balva and Peyton Werner followed him home. Hong finished his day with a more than two-second win in the IM, with Hunter Kim second and Sech third.

Princeton will host Penn and Cornell on Saturday, Nov. 18.
