Draper Named Rookie of the Year, Three From Women’s Volleyball Named All-Ivy

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League announced its 2023 postseason awards Thursday afternoon and freshman Sydney Draper of the Princeton University women's volleyball team was honored as Rookie of the Year while Draper, sophomore Lucia Scalamandre and freshman Kamryn Chaney were named All-Ivy League.
Draper, a three-time Rookie of the Week, is the Tigers' eighth Ivy Rookie of the Year and the second-straight winner of the award for Princeton as Scalamandre was the 2022 recipient. Draper leads both the team and the conference in assists-per-set (10.37), a number that also ranks No. 21 nationally. Draper's 24 service aces are tied for first on the team and 128 digs rank second on the team. Additionally, she has recorded 10 double doubles in 2023.
Scalamandre, now a two-time All-Ivy First Team honoree, was a unanimous selection. She leads the Tigers, ranks first in the Ivy League and 10th in the nation with a .423 hitting percentage, and averages 0.87 blocks-per-set which leads the team and ranks ninth in the conference. Scalamandre was also honored as the Ivy League Player of the Week twice in 2023.
Chaney, the Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Oct. 16, leads Princeton and ranks second in the Ivy League in points-per-set (3.91), seventh in the in service aces (0.35), and fourth in kills (3.30).
In addition, senior Maya Satchell was named Academic All-Ivy League.
