Men's Swimming & Diving Earns Season-Opening Victories Over Brown & Dartmouth

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Princeton University men's swimming & diving team opened the 2023-24 season with a pair of victories inside the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatic Center Saturday, defeating Brown 182-118 and Dartmouth 215-84.
The meet was highlighted by Aidan Wang setting a new dual meet record on the 1-meter board in his first collegiate meet, winning the event with a score of 372.90. The Tigers earned a 1-2-3 sweep in the event, with George Callanan coming in second with a score of 302.50 and Taso Callanan third with a score of 294.50.
A 1-2-3 sweep occurred again on the 3-meter board thanks Taso Callanan (364.85), Wang (364.60) and Luca Fassi (337.00).
Princeton opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay after Yanning Zhang, Kael Mlinek, Tyler Hong and Brett Feyerick finished in 1:29.39.
The Tigers also earned a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 backstroke with Hong winning the event (48.69), Zhang finishing second (48.78) and Daniel Li finishing third (50.37).
Princeton earned two out of the top three finishes in the 1000 freestyle after John Ehling won with a time of 9:13.06 and Hunter Kim came in second with a time of 9:34.02.
Noah Sech's time of 3:54.24 saw him triumph in the 400 IM. Hunter Kim was not far behind, finish second with a time of 3:58.66.
The 500 freestyle also proved to be a successful event for the Tigers after Ehling took first in 4:29.55, Peyton Werner third in 4:35.81 and Nicholas Lim fourth in 4:38.64.
The 200 butterfly also saw the Tigers finish first and second thanks to Max Kreidl (1:48.67) and Arthur Balva (1:49.79).
Parker Lenoce's time of 1:48.38 in the 200 backstroke saw him earn a first-place finish. Kreidl also finished third with a time of 1:50.16 and Brett Feyerick fourth in 1:50.26.
Hong claimed victory in the 100 butterfly (48.24) while Zhang came in second (49.48).
In the 50 freestyle the Tigers had three finishers inside the top-five after Brett Feyerick finished second in 20.65, Yanning Zhang third in 20.80 and Adell Sabovic fourth in 20.99.
The quartet of Lucas Tudoras, Li, Kreidl and Sabovic finished second in the 400 freestyle relay after clocking in at 3:01.26.
Sech's time of 56.48 in the 100 breaststroke saw him earn a third-place finish. Sech also finished third in the 200 breastroke in 2:03.14.
The Tigers also took third, fourth and fifth in the 100 freestyle thanks to Tudoras (45.53), Sabovic (45.66) and Li (45.72).
In the 200 freestyle, Lim finished fourth in 1:40.14.
