No. 25 Women's Basketball Drops Close Battle To Rhode Island, 60-58

KINGSTON, R.I. – The No. 25 Princeton Women's Basketball Team dropped a 60-58 decision to the Rhode Island Rams at the Ryan Center on Sunday afternoon.

After Parker Hill's layup with seven seconds remaining, Madison St. Rose drew an offensive foul to get Princeton one last opportunity. The Tigers couldn't get a shot up to fall by the two-point deficit.

St. Rose led the Tigers with 17 points behind four treys while Parker Hill scored 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds, blocked four shots and stole two passes in her first career start.

Trailing by six, Hill scored three straight points to cut Princeton's deficit in half, 11-8, after 10 minutes of action.

Behind by one, 16-15, Rhode Island used a 12-2 push to go ahead, 27-19, with 4:37 remaining in the first half. The Tigers found themselves down, 27-22, at the break.

Head coach Carla Berube's squad registered the final five points of the third stanza to close the gap to four, 41-37.

The Tigers ripped off 10 of 12 to claim a three-point advantage, 47-44, as the clock read 7:38.
Princeton maintained its lead until Teisha Hyman's two free throws gave the Rams the lead, 54-53, with 3:31 to go. St. Rose countered on the next possession with a trey.

After two free throws, Hyman put Rhode Island on top for good with 32 seconds left.

Princeton welcomes Quinnipiac to Jadwin Gym on Wednesday. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
