Women's Basketball Takes Care Of Quinnipiac, 79-70

PRINCETON – The Princeton Women's Basketball Team shot 58 percent from the floor and defeated the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 79-70, at Jadwin Gym on Wednesday evening.

The home team had 11 different players score with Madison St. Rose leading the way with 17 points on an efficient 7-of-10 from the floor. Parker Hill set a new personal mark with 14 points while going 7-of-9 shooting and Kaitlyn Chen had a career-high 10 assists in the victory.

Chen's 10 assists mark the first time a Tiger has dished out 10 helpers in a game since Leslie Robinson had a triple double vs. Brown in March of 2018.Â

Princeton ripped off 15 of the first 20 points of the contest before Quinnipiac ended the first quarter with an 11-4 push to close the gap to three, 19-16, after 10 minutes.

The Tigers quickly stretched its lead back to double digits, 29-18, with 6:44 to go in the first half after this impressive stepback three from Ashley Chea.

Quinnipiac closed within eight twice in the third quarter, but Princeton countered with buckets on the next possession each time. Head coach Carla Berube's team held a 64-52 lead as the fourth quarter got underway.

The Bobcats never threatened the Tigers in the fourth quarter, trailing by as many as 17 before registering 11 of the final 14 points to make the score 79-70.

Princeton's 58.9 percent shooting was a season high as were its 22 assists and 12 steals. The Tigers will head to Villanova next Monday in a battle of 2023 NCAA Tournament teams. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
