Men's Tennis Drops Home Opener to NC State
February 12, 2023 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's tennis team fell just short, 5-2, to NC State Sunday afternoon inside Jadwin Gymnasium in its home opener for the 2023 dual season.
"It was another highly competitive battle today against a seasoned and tough team," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "Despite losing the doubles we played better today and simply didn't convert key points. Our effort was good all the way through and similar to last week at MTSU there was a moment where we had momentum and didn't turn it. We have a tough schedule by design and we will keep taking these shots at good teams as we are knocking on the door. Our guys are learning and growing each match and aren't backing down. We're excited for the next opportunity starting Friday at the ECAC at Dartmouth."
In singles, the Tigers earned a pair of wins; at No. 1, Fnu Nidunjianzan defeated Damien Salvestre, 5-7, 7-5, 6-1, and Will Peters took down Martins Rocens 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 2 positions.
