Bandura's Remarkable Day Helps Baseball Secure Doubleheader Split at Georgia
February 26, 2023 | Baseball
Georgia 12, Princeton 7
Scott Bandura opened the contest with an RBI double to left center three batters in, but Corey Collins countered with a three-run home run in the home half of the first.
Nick DiPietrantonio tied the game in the third inning on a two-run double. The Tigers had a chance to tack on with two runners in scoring position and one out but could not take the lead.
Parks Harber put the home team back in front with a two-run four-bagger in the bottom of the third, but Bandura's two-run double quickly tied the game again in the next half frame. Two batters later, DiPietrantonio slapped a ball through the right side, scoring Bandura and putting Princeton in front, 6-5.
Three unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth put Georgia back on top, 8-6. They would add four more tallies while Bandura blasted a home run to finish off the scoring for Princeton.
Bandura finished with three hits, three runs and four RBI in the loss.

The Tigers found themselves trailing 5-0 after two innings before Kyle Vinci got them on the board with a solo home run in the fourth. Georgia's Will David's RBI single made it a five-run contest again in the bottom of that stanza.
Princeton loaded the bases with no out in the top of the fifth inning. After a strikeout, Brendan Cumming lined a base hit up the middle, scoring one before an RBI groundout from Matt Scannell got the Tigers within three.
Bandura walloped a three-run home run to center field, resetting the game at 6-all. In the bottom of the frame, Georgia retook the lead on a sacrifice fly.
It took one batter for Princeton to answer as DiPietrantonio led off the sixth with an opposite field bomb.
Two unearned runs in the home half of the sixth gave the Bulldogs a 9-7 advantage.
A Carlos Abello sacrifice fly got the Tigers within one in the top of the eighth before Jake Koonin ripped a two-run double to center field which gave the road unit the lead, 10-9. Eric Marasheski followed with an RBI single to add an insurance tally.
Bandura hit his third home run of the day and the team's 10th of the weekend in the ninth.
That four-bagger proved important as Sebastian Murillo's two-run homer got the Bulldogs within one. Jacob Faulker retired three straight hitters after that to secure the win for Princeton and the first collegiate victory of his career.
Just like game one, Bandura had three hits, three runs and four RBI. Faulkner allowed two runs in four relief frames along with two strikeouts in the decision.
Princeton makes the trip to Duke next weekend (Mar. 3-5).
