Francis '74 Reflects on Term as USGA President
February 27, 2023 | Men's Golf
J. Stuart Francis '74 concluded his three-year term as president of the United States Golf Association over the weekend when new president Fred Perpall was elected to serve for the next three years.
The three-year presidential term followed five years serving on the organization's Executive Committee. Global Golf Post's Jim Nugent talked with Francis to look back at his eight years with USGA leadership, which you can read here.
At Princeton, Francis was a three-year letterwinner and served as team captain for the 1973-74 season, a year after earning All-Ivy and honorable mention All-America honors. Princeton won the Ivy League title during that 1973 season as well as Francis's sophomore season in 1972. The program's head coaching position is endowed in Francis's honor as the J. Stuart Francis '74 Head Coach of Men's Golf.Â
