Official All Ivy Awards Release
PRINCETON, N.J. – After leading the Princeton University men's track and field team to their eighth straight Ivy League Indoor championship, Head Coach, Fred Samara, has been named Ivy League coach of the year.
This is Samara's tenth time winning the award.
Following this year's exciting championship victory, Samara, commented, "I told the team at our meeting after the first day, 'If we are in it going into the relays, we are going to win it'. I told them to remember what Yogi Berra said, 'It ain't over till it's over.' This year's Indoor Championship may be the most satisfying win of my career considering all of the very talented guys we had out with various injuries. All of the credit positively goes to the team for their belief and never give up attitude."
In addition to Samara's honor, 16 members of the Princeton University men's track & field team also garnered Ivy recognition. The first-place finishers in each event at the Ivy championships are named First Team All Ivy and the second-place finishers in each event are named Second Team All Ivy.
In addition to his first team All-Ivy recognition, senior Sondre Guttormsen was also named Princeton's Academic All-Ivy Recipient following his performance at last weekends' Indoor Heps.
