Cunningham Registers Her 1,000th Career Point In Impressive Win Over Columbia

NEW YORK – The Women's Basketball Team held the Columbia Lions to a season-low in points with a 74-56 decision at Levien Gymnasium.
The Lions came into the weekend averaging 81.8 points per contest, good for 11th highest in the NCAA. Princeton has held Columbia to its two lowest scoring outputs this year.
Princeton registered 10 of the first 13 points, but Columbia rebounded to get within one, 12-11 with 2:37 to go in the first quarter. The Tigers countered with nine straight to end the frame, taking a 21-11 lead.
Head coach Carla Berube's team led by as many as 16 before taking a 36-21 lead into halftime. It was a balanced attack for the Tigers with five different players scoring at least six points in the half.
The road squad stretched its advantage to 21, but the Lions went on a 15-4 sprint to get within 10 before Kaitlyn Chen hit the final shot of the third stanza.
Columbia never got closer in the fourth quarter.

Cunningham is now the 27th Princeton Tiger to reach the 1,000-point milestone. Madison St. Rose (14) and Grace Stone (13) were also in double figures for Princeton. Ellie Mitchell was one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 17 rebounds in the win.
Princeton is now 16-5 overall and 7-2 in the Ivy League while Columbia falls to 18-4 this season and 7-2 in conference action. The Tigers welcome Dartmouth to Jadwin Gym for National Girls and Women In Sports Day along with a Black History Month Celebration next Saturday (Feb. 11). Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
