First-Teamer Glory Leads Princeton's Five All-Ivy Wrestling Honorees
March 01, 2023 | Wrestling
Concluding his Princeton career with four All-Ivy League honors, 125-pounder Patrick Glory was named to the first-team All-Ivy League by vote of the league's coaches on Wednesday, giving the senior his third first-team All-Ivy recognition to go with a second-team honor as a rookie.
Quincy Monday, a senior 165-pounder, and Luke Stout, a sophomore 197-pounder, were Princeton's second-team honorees, while junior Nate Dugan, at 184 pounds, and senior Travis Stefanik, at heavyweight, earned honorable mention.
Glory, a unanimous first-team pick, went 5-0 in Ivy League bouts this season, wrestling three of them at 133, against Columbia, Harvard and Brown, before returning to 125 against Cornell and Penn. Among his highlight wins were against Columbia's No. 26-ranked Angelo Rini at 133, and upon returning to 125, Glory beat No. 8-ranked Brett Ungar of Cornell in a 10-2 major decision. Glory is ranked No. 2 by the NCAA Coaches panel and will aim for his third EIWA title and fourth EIWA finals appearance this weekend at Penn.
Monday also concludes his career with four All-Ivy League honors, earning second-team recognition after being named to the first team in each of his first three seasons. Monday went 4-1 in the Ivy, getting a win over No. 17-ranked Josh Ogunsanya of Columbia while the lone loss - and his only loss of the season to date - was to Cornell's Julian Ramirez, the first-team honoree, a 10-6 decision in a matchup of national top-10 wrestlers. Monday is ranked No. 4 in the nation at 165 and will be looking to follow up last season's EIWA title at 157. Monday is also Princeton's inclusion on the Academic All-Ivy League team.
Stout begins his Princeton career going 2-for-2 in second-team All-Ivy honors. Going 4-1 in the Ivy, Stout pinned Penn's Cole Urbas in a matchup of NCAA Coaches-ranked wrestlers in the Ivy finale. Stout's lone loss was to Ivy first-teamer Jacob Cardenas of Cornell. Stout and Cardenas met in last season's EIWA semifinal, which Stout won to make the EIWA final in his debut at the event. Stout enters this weekend's EIWA meet ranked No. 22 in the nation by the NCAA Coaches panel.
Dugan is an All-Ivy Leaguer for the first time, going 3-2 in the league and getting a highlight win over Cornell's Jonathan Loew, then ranked No. 6 in the nation by InterMat, in a 4-3 decision. Dugan was an EIWA quarterfinalist at 174 last season.
Stefanik concludes his career with four All-Ivy League honors, adding the honorable mention to a first-team honor as a sophomore and second-team recognition as a freshman and a junior. Moving up to heavyweight this season after being an NCAA qualifier at 184 last season, Stefanik, an EIWA finalist last season, went 3-2 in the league and closed with an overtime win over Penn's Ben Goldin in a matchup of NCAA Coaches-ranked wrestlers. Stefanik is ranked No. 33 in the nation by the NCAA Coaches panel.
