Softball Team Closes Out Ivy-Opening Sweep of Yale

Yale opened the scoring with a Libby Peoples base hit that followed a Maddie Latta triple in the second inning, but Princeton tied it up in its half of the third with a leadoff Sophia Marsalo solo homer and went ahead later in the inning when Julia Dumais picked up an Ashley McDonald double with a sacrifice fly after a Serena Starks base hit.Â

Princeton pushed the lead to 3-1 in the fourth when Lauren Sablone had a one-out walk, stole second and came home on a McDonald base hit.
Yale cut it to 3-2 in the fifth on a walk to Lauren Perren, a Willa Ferrer double and a Latta ground ball, but that was as close as the Bulldogs got. A day after her five-inning no-hitter, Alexiis Laudenslager went 4 1/3 innings to get the win, allowing the two runs on five hits and four walks, striking out two, before Meghan Harrington went 2 2/3 innings to get the save, striking out five as she retired every batter she faced.
