March 25, 2023 | Heavyweight Rowing
PRINCETON - The No. 9 Men's Heavyweight Rowing Team began the 2023 spring season with an impressive 11.6-second victory on Lake Carnegie on Saturday afternoon.
The varsity eight came across the finish line at 5:48.6 in front of No. 16 Drexel (6:00.2), No. 20 Temple (6:01.0) and No. 22 Georgetown (6:05.1).
Princeton's second varsity also earned a decisive decision (5:58.2) with Georgetown (6:16.5), Drexel (6:18.9) and Temple (6:19.9) rounding out the boats.
The Tigers collected a 15.6-second win (6:03.4) at third varsity over Temple and Drexel before the fourth varsity finished off the day (6:13.0) with a 6.7-second victory.
"I was pleased with our team's racing today," said head coach Greg Hughes. "It was a solid start to the spring season. It looks like we have a solid foundation but we all know there's work to do. I'm looking forward to the training week and seeing what gains we can make for the race this coming weekend."
Hughes' squad will welcome Navy to Princeton next Saturday (Apr. 1).
