No. 1 Men's Lightweights Has Banner Day With Wins Over Navy and Georgetown

The No. 1 Men's Lightweight Rowing Team had a banner day regaining the Murtaugh Cup and retaining the Fosburgh Cup on Lake Carnegie on Saturday.

Princeton regained the Murtaugh Cup with a 4.6-second victory over the Navy Midshipmen.

The Midshipmen took the first race of the day in the fourth varsity with a 6:28.3, but the Tigers rallied with a win at third varsity (6:16.1) and second varsity (6:07.5).

Last year, head coach Marty Crotty's first varsity dropped a 1.3-second decision to the Midshipmen but rebounded with a triumph this season by crossing the line at 5:55.4. It's Princeton's third conquest over Navy in the last four races.

Later in the day, the lightweight squad (5:58.9) dropped Georgetown by five seconds to collect its sixth straight Fosburgh Cup. The Tigers picked up a nine-second win in the second varsity (6:04.1) and 6.8-second win in the third varsity (6:21.2).
