Open Crew Takes Down Brown; Wins Class Of 1987 Trophy For Fifth Straight Time

PRINCETON – The Women's Open Rowing Squad collected its fifth straight Class of 1987 Trophy with a two-second win over the Brown Bears on Lake Carnegie on Saturday.
The Tigers' varsity eight earned a time of 6:36.6 in front of Brown (6:38.6) and Rhode Island (7:13.6).
Brown's second varsity (6:43.6) secured a 2.7-second victory over Princeton (6:46.3) while the home team's varsity four corralled a 5.8-second decision over the Bears (7:34.1).
Head coach Lori Dauphiny's third varsity crossed the finish line at 7:01.3 over 17 seconds in front.
The Varsity Four B (7:44.2) won its event by over five seconds.
"It was a fantastic start to the spring season," said Dauphiny. "Brown proved to be very strong as always and Rhode Island was a great addition to the race. We are proud of this team and look forward to more racing!"
Princeton will travel to Cambridge, Mass., in two weeks (Apr. 8) to take on Harvard and Cornell.
