Baseball Rips Off 18 Hits In 18-9 Win Over Harvard

Kyle Vinci and Nick DiPietrantonio combined for 11 RBI and six hits while four other Tigers had at least two knocks.
The Tigers scored in seven of their nine at bats and scored at least two runs in five of those innings.
Princeton got going with two outs in the first inning as Vinci and DiPietrantonio followed through with RBI knocks to go up 3-0. In front, 4-0, Vinci blasted a four-bagger in the third inning.
Harvard cut its deficit in half on a three-run home run by Will Jacobsen in the fourth frame. Caden Shapiro got a run back on an RBI single to the center field in the next half stanza.
The home team's Ben Rounds hit a two-run home run to get within two, 7-5.
Princeton immediately countered in its next at-bat with a two-out two-run hit from DiPietrantonio. The road unit kept adding on with a no-doubt home run from Matt Scannell. After a wild pitch gave the Tigers their 12th run, DiPietrantonio tacked on two more with two outs with a run-producing knock. Vinci put an exclamation mark on the victory with a titanic three-run home run in the ninth. A bases loaded walk provided the Tigers' their 18th run, their most since scoring 21 at Towson last season.
Justin Kim collected his fourth win of the season with 2 1/3 innings of relief work, allowing one base runner. Vinci is just three home runs shy of the Princeton single-season record.
Princeton last won four straight Ivy League games to begin non-conference play in 2016. The Tigers and Crimson will attempt to play a contest tomorrow at 2 p.m. before a game on Sunday at 12 p.m. If tomorrow is a washout, the two Ivy foes will play a doubleheader starting at 11:30 a.m.
