No. 64 Men's Tennis Upends Holy Cross, 7-0
March 05, 2023 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 64 Princeton University men's tennis team split a pair of matches Sunday inside Jadwin Gymnasium, earning a 7-0 win over Holy Cross and falling 4-0 to No. 12 Northwestern.
"It was good to finish off a long weekend by getting a win today following a tough match against Northwestern," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "Unlike Friday night against IU where we were successful in establishing early leads, we dug ourselves too big of a hole. We had good energy and effort with some great crowd support but didn't execute the way we needed to against a high quality opponent. We have a bit of time now to heal up and be fresh for three matches in San Diego in 12 days."
The Tigers swept all of their matches against Holy Cross, with Fnu Nidunjianzan and Will Peters taking down Declan O'Flynn and Diego Tran Rosado 6-0 at No. 1, Alan Kam and Sebastian Sec prevailing over Connor Nelson and William Kelleher 6-0 at No. 2 and Filippos Astreinidis and Ben Smith upending Patrick Ling and Alessandro Bizzarri 6-1 at No. 3.
In singles, Nidunjianzan earned a 6-1, 6-0 vicgtory over Jeremy Clark at No. 1 and Peters dispatches Nelson at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0. At the No. 3 position, Sebastian Sec triumphed over O'Flynn, 6-1, 6-0, and Alan Kam collected a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 over Kelleher. Ben Smith defeated Long at No. 5, 6-3, 6-1, and Aidan Mahoney earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 over Bizarri.
