Official Watch List ReleaseÂ
Princeton N.J. – Senior, Sondre Guttormsen has been named to the 2023 Men's Mid-Outdoor Watch List for the Bowerman, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Guttormsen has made his presence upon the watch list known. He is one of just ten athletes on the official list and has previously been listed upon the preseason, mid-indoor, pre-NCAA Indoor Championships, and post-NCAA Indoor Championships edition for 2023.
Guttormsen ended the 2023 indoor season as a NCAA indoor pole vault champion, earning his second consecutive indoor title and third NCAA title overall.Â
At this years' NCAA DI Indoor Championships, Guttormsen tied the collegiate record in the pole vault clearing 6.00m (19-8¼) to win the event title. Throughout the 2023 season, he notched three all-time top-11 marks on the all-time collegiate chart, going from No. 6 to No. 1.
With the outdoor season now in full swing, Guttormsen will look to continue his success throughout the spring as he continues to raise the bar on his journey to another NCAA Champion title.Â
Â
Despite weather disruptions that moved competition indoors, Guttormsen opened outdoor competition for 2023 at this years' Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton last weekend on April 15th.
Â
He set a new meet record at the Larry Ellis Invitational by clearing a height of 5.81m, breaking his own previous record of 5.63m set at last year's Invitational.Â
Â
With this years' Outdoor Heptagonal Championships set to begin in Philadelphia on May 6th upon Franklin Field, Guttormsen will once again look to be crowned an Ivy Champion.
