Â
TORONTO – Freshman Xaivian Lee of the Princeton University men's basketball team was one of 46 athletes selected to participate in Canada Basketball's Men's High Performance U19 National Team Age-Group Assessment Camp at Humber College from Friday, April 7, until Monday, April 10.
Â
Lee and the other athletes in attendance will be assessed for this summer's FIBA U19 Men's Basketball World Cup, which takes place in Debrecen, Hungary, from Saturday, June 24 until Sunday, July 2.
Â
The objective of the camp is to provide a national training environment with an international focus to top identified athletes in a variety of age groups ranging from those born in 2007 and later. At the camp, national team coaches, sports scientists and technical staff will work to identify athletes who will be invited to the next stage of the 2023 age-group programs later this summer.
Athletes will also participate in workshops on mental performance, as well as various aspects of athlete performance, including strength and conditioning, rehab and recovery, as well as nutrition.
Lee, who is coming off a 2022-23 season that saw him help the Tigers advance it to the Sweet Sixteen, defeat a pair of Associated Press (AP) Top-25 opponents and win both the Ivy League Tournament and Regular Season Championships, was honored as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Monday, November 28, 2022. In 13.4 minutes-per-game, Lee averaged 4.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists. Lee scored a season-high 12 points in three different games, including the Championship Game at the London Basketball Classic on Saturday, November 26, in Princeton's win over Northeastern.
