No. 50 Men's Tennis Falls Just Short Against No. 11 Columbia, 4-3
April 07, 2023 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 50 Princeton University men's tennis team won the doubles point, but fell just short against No. 11 Columbia Friday afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center.
"Despite the loss I'm proud of our guys. They fought hard and created a winning opportunity today," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "We didn't quite turn the corner and Columbia did a good job getting the fourth point as we were making a strong push. We played a much better doubles point today and I'm especially pleased with Top and Seb as they had great performances against two of the best freshmen in the country. We'll take the positives from this match and look to build on it against Cornell on Sunday."
The duo of Alan Kam and Will Peters outlasted Roko Hovat and Max Westphal, 7-6, at No. 2 and the team of Ellis Short and Sebastian Sec earned a 6-4 win at No. 4 over Nicolas Kotzen and Ishaan Ravichander, securing the doubles point for Princeton.
In singles, Fnu Nidunjianzan earned an impressive 7-6, 6-4 victory over No. 22 Michael Zheng, and Sec prevailed over Cotzen at No. 4, 7-6, 6-1.
