The Ivy League Tournament winner will receive the Ivy League's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, the field for which will be announced May 14 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 with NCAA regional competition the following weekend, beginning either Thursday, May 18 or Friday, May 19 at one of 16 campus sites that will be announced during the selection show. The Ivy League title is decided by regular-season play, with Princeton and Harvard sharing the title with 16-5 records. Princeton won hosting rights for the Ivy League Tournament by taking two of three during the teams' regular-season series.
This season's tournament is the first four-team tournament since the Ivy League postseason returned in 2007. From 2007-17, the league was split into two divisions, with the division winners competing for both the Ivy League title and NCAA bid in the best-of-three Ivy League Championship Series. From 2018-22, aside from the pandemic-missed 2020 and 2021 seasons, the Ivy returned to a single division, with the top two teams meeting at the field of the top team, which had already claimed the Ivy title, solely for the NCAA bid in the Ivy League Playoff Series.Â
