Nicholas Bendtsen Earns Second-Team All American Honors in the 5000m at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Austin, TX - On Friday night under the lights of Mike A. Meyers Stadium, Nicholas Bendsten made his NCAA Outdoor championship debut in the Men's 5000m, finishing with Second Team All-America honors in Austin.Â
Â
Bendsten ran an impressive race among the nation's top collegiate talent and finished in 16th place out of 23 participants. Bendsten crossed the finish line at 14:22.79 after 12.5 laps around the track that made for an exciting championship.
Bendsten's  top 16 finish also grants him Second Team All-America honors to conclude his 2023 outdoor campaign.Â

On the track, Bendsten has remained a consistent force  for the Tigers in 2023. The distance runners' 5000m NCAA qualifying time of 13:35.15 from earlier this season was ranked 25th in the NCAA for 2023 outdoor competition and currently stands as the No. 1 all time Princeton performance.
His impressive performance in Jacksonville at the NCAA East Regional competition helped to punch his ticket to Austin after running a solid 14:04.89 race.Â

Friday evening's race concludes NCAA Championship competition and an impressive outdoor season for the Princeton men in Austin.
Both Nicholas Bendsten and pole vaulter Sondre Guttormsen conclude 2023 with All-America honors, adding two more Tigers to the prestigious list.Â
