Princeton Announces 2023 Field Hockey Schedule

2023 PRINCETON FIELD HOCKEY SCHEDULE (TIMES SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
The Princeton field hockey has made a foundational piece of its program out of playing the very best non-league schedule it can, and the upcoming 2023 season will be no different. This season will, however, bring something radically different with it.
A schedule that includes non-league games against six NCAA tournament teams from a year ago, including both NCAA finalists and a third team that reached the semifinals, will also see the chase for the four spots in the first-ever Ivy League field hockey tournament, which will be held Nov. 3-5 at the home of the No. 1 seed.
"We always want to play the best teams we can play," says Princeton head coach Carla Tagliente. "This year will be no exception. It's a very exciting schedule, and the fact that there's something new at the end brings a different kind of excitement to the league race."
Princeton enters the 2023 season after winning another Ivy League championship, the program's 26th, a year ago with a perfect 7-0 run through the conference. The top four teams this year will play in the Ivy tournament, ant finished in the top four was in 1983.
The Tigers lost in the first round of the 2022 NCAA tournament to Syracuse, a team it beat in the regular season. Those teams play again Oct. 8 on Bedford Field in what will be the Tigers' last of eight non-league games.
The season begins Sept. 1 at Penn for the annual ACC/Ivy challenge that features the Quakers, Princeton, Louisville and North Carolina. Princeton will take on the Cardinals, who reached the NCAA tournament last year, in their first game and then the defending NCAA champion North Carolina two days later in the second game of the weekend. After that, there are games at Delaware (also an NCAA team last year), home against Rutgers, at Maryland (Final Four a year ago after losing to Princeton in the regular season) and at home against UConn before the Ivy League opener against Columbia at home on Sept. 22.
That game will be followed by a flight to Chicago, where the Tigers take on NCAA runner-up Northwestern on Sept. 24. That game will be played close to the home of Lake Forest native and Tiger senior Gracie McGowan.
The schedule then has six more Ivy games with the Syracuse game mixed in as well. The Tigers will be home against Penn, Cornell and Harvard in addition to Columbia, with trips to Brown, Dartmouth and Yale.
Admission to all regular season Princeton home games is free. All Princeton home games and Ivy League games can be seen on ESPN+.
