No. 1 Men's Lightweight Rowing Shines During Day 1 of IRAs

WEST WINDSOR – The No. 1 Princeton men's lightweight rowing team recorded an impressive first day at the IRA Rowing Championships at Mercer Lake.
Princeton's 1V rowed out to an impressive 5:43.41, the best mark in its heat over Penn (5:45.56 and Cornell (5:45.59) to move on to the Grand Final on Sunday at 10:20 a.m.
The 2V8 trailed by almost two seconds in the first 500m, but quickly rebounded to take the lead by the 1000m mark and finished off a win in its race for lanes (5:49.62) over Yale (5:51.23) and Cornell (5:52.82). Sunday's 2V8 Grand Final is set for 9:30 a.m.
The varsity four had the second-best time (6:25.19) in its time trial, trailing only Georgetown (6:21.78). The boat's semifinal set for Friday afternoon was cancelled due to weather on Friday which means it will race in the Grand Final at 9:38 a.m.
