September 17, 2023 | Women's Soccer
Following up Thursday night's win over No. 10 Georgetown, the Princeton women's soccer team kept the momentum going with a 4-2 win at Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon.
Princeton outshot the Bobcats 13-8 overall and 6-4 on goal in the win, which lifted the Tigers to 5-1-1 overall with Cornell coming to Roberts Stadium on Saturday to open the Ivy League season.
Princeton opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a Madison Curry finish from the corner of the 18, and after Quinnipiac tied it with a Courtney Chochol penalty kick, the Tigers got two goals in less than two minutes to pull back in front 3-1. Heather MacNab took a pass threaded across the 18 by Drew Coomans in the 31st minute, and Pietra Tordin sent in a free kick to get the Tigers a two-goal lead.
Jen Estes finished the scoring for Princeton in the 61st minute as she finished a pass across the 18 from MacNab as the Tigers went up 4-1. A goal from Quinnipiac's Evelyn Keay in the 81st minute made the 4-2 final.
Tordin's goal was her team-best ninth of the season while those from Curry, MacNab and Estes were all season-firsts, expanding Princeton's list of goal scorers to eight players on the season.
Tyler McCamey played the first 78 minutes, making two saves with only the penalty-kick goal allowed, and rookie Cecilia Cerone closed out the final 12 minutes in her second collegiate appearance.
