Freshman Sprinters Have A Solid Showing At 2024 Navy Dual

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Princeton men's track and field team finished at the Navy Dual meet with a team score of 87, finishing just behind Navy at 92, at the Wesley A Brown Field House today. The Princeton sprinters notably had a stellar day.

In the 60m dash, the Princeton sprinters showcased impressive performances. Zachary Della Rocca, the freshman, claimed the top spot with time of 6.78 seconds, securing 5 points for his team. This new collegiate personal record puts him tied at the number seven spot on the indoor all-time top-ten list. Following closely behind was Jackson Clarke, another freshman, who completed the dash in 6.86 seconds, earning 3 points for his second-place finish. Daniel Duncan, the senior, recorded a noteworthy time of 6.88 seconds, an exhibition time.
In the 200m dash, the sprinters continued to excel, with Jackson Clarke leading the pack. Clarke secured the top position with an impressive time of 21.18 seconds, earning 5 points with Zachary Della Rocca following closely behind with 21.44 seconds. In the 400m dash, the men continued to demonstrate their prowess on the track, with Xavier Donaldson seizing the top spot. Donaldson completed the race with a notable time of 48.24 seconds. Following closely behind was William Doyle, the senior, who secured the second position with a time of 48.86 seconds.
In the 500m dash, Samuel Rodman, a junior, delivered another strong performance to secure the top position. Rodman completed the dash with an impressive time of 1:03.35. Moving onto the 4x400m relay, the Princeton A team clinched the top position with a time of 3:14.61. The relay team consisted of Xavier Donaldson, William Doyle, Zach Della Rocca, and Anderson Dimon.
In the jumps, Greg Foster had a standout day. In the long jump, Foster's jump was a 7.70m, taking the first place position. He also placed first in the triple jump with a distance of 14.96m.
Tyler Konopka was the final first place finisher for the Tigers in the shot put. The junior threw for a distance of 17.76m.
"I'm very pleased with how our team was able to compete today," said head coach Jason Vigilante. "The freshman sprinters have made a lot of improvements since Joe Handelman and I think this Navy Dual shows that. We are excited to get back to work to prepare for the Villanova invite next weekend."
