
Women's Track & Field Villanova Invite Recap

Staten Island, NY - The Princeton women continued to build momentum on the year at the Villanova Invitational in Staten Island, NY, with nearly all performers recording season bests. Today's competitors consisted mostly of sprint//hurdle/field event athletes.

The Tigers had a strong start to the meet in the 60m hurdles with Lily Parris and Adelaide Asante qualifying for the finals and Asante setting a new PR of 8.76 seconds. Parris went on to take third place with a season best time of 8.61 seconds, just off the junior's personal best of 8.56.
Senior captain Bri Mponzi clocked a season best of 7.59 seconds in the 60m dash to take second place. Mponzi came back to earn a third place finish in the 400m with a time of 55.71 seconds. This indoor PR puts her seventh all-time in the Princeton record books.
In the 200m, Maisha Atkinson raced to second place finish of 24.95.
In the field, the Tigers claimed two victories. The first was Tessa Mudd in the pole vault with a jump of 4.15m (13'7.5").
The dynamic sophomore duo of Alex Kelly and Georgie Scoot opened their seasons in the triple jump with a 1-2 finish. Kelly won the event with a jump of 13.06m (42'10.25") on her final attempt and Scoot recorded an indoor personal best of 12.75m (41'10"), moving her up to second all-time at Princeton. The two sit 1-3 in the Ivy League after their triple jump performances and Kelly's mark ties her for 12th in the NCAA coming in to the weekend.
As the lone Tiger in the throws, Maddie Wolford recorded a new personal best in the weight throw of 15.17m (49'9"), bettering her previous best of 15.06m (49'5").
The combined event athlete, Julia Jongejeugd, went three-for-three on college bests. The sophomore started her day running 7.97 in the 60m. She went on to clear a height of 1.60m (5'3") to earn a fourth place finish in the high jump. Jongejeugd closed off the meet for the Tigers with a lifetime best in the 200m of 25.88.
