Corniea Named to National Rookie of the Year Watch List
February 01, 2024 | Women's Ice Hockey
Uma Corniea has been named to the Hockey Commissioners Association's Rookie of the Year watch list as one of 23 first-year players from across the country to be so recognized.
Corniea leads the Tiger netminders in games played (14) and games started (12) while carrying a 2.45 GAA and a .908 save percentage, posting a 6-5-1 record with two shutouts. Those shutouts came over two of Corniea's first three games, including in her Tiger debut against Robert Morris on Oct. 14 and again on Oct. 21 against Brown. Corniea's top save total of 32 came Nov. 11 against Mercyhurst.
Each school will have one vote to determine the winner of the HCA's Rookie of the Year Award, which will be presented at the NCAA Frozen Four in New Hampshire in March.
