PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton University women's volleyball team Head Coach Sabrina King announced the promotion of Dominique Mason to Recruiting Coordinator.
"Dom has been a valuable asset for our program for the past three seasons," said King. "Her growth in her role and ability to connect with our student-athletes and prospective student-athletes has prepared her to step into the role of Recruiting Coordinator. I'm so lucky to get to retain and promote such a rising star in the coaching world."
As Recruiting Coordinator, Mason will be responsible for organizing communication with potential student athletes, club coordinators, and coaches along with identifying and evaluating potential players, as well as managing the logistics of recruitment visits, and all administrative tasks involved in the recruiting process.
"I am thrilled about the opportunity to develop and expand within this new position," said Mason. "I'm excited to be a bigger part of Princeton women's volleyball and Princeton Athletics. Go Tigers."
Mason joined the Tigers' staff ahead of the 2021 season as an assistant coach. She helped guide the Tigers to the Ivy title in 2022 along with second-place finishes in 2023 and 2021. In her three seasons at Princeton, nine players have been named All-Ivy with seven collecting First Team honors. Lindsey Kelly was honored as the Ivy Player of the Year in 2022, and led the nation in assists-per-set while the Tigers also led the nation in that category as a team. Other accolades during Mason's tenure include a pair of Ivy Rookie of the Year awards, with Sydney Draper winning it in 2023 and Lucia Scalamandre in 2022. 2022 also saw Cameron Dames honored as Ivy Defensive Player of the Year.
As a student-athlete, Mason played at Seton Hall from 2016-2018. She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on four occasions and was named the Oklahoma Nike Invitational All-Tournament Team in 2017. During her two seasons as a Pirate she accumulated 509 kills, 331 digs and 62 blocks. Mason finished second on the team in kills (316) and kills per set (2.85) as a senior, while ranking 10th in the BIG EAST among conference matches in kills per set. Mason was also honored for her work in the classroom, as she was named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star in 2016.
Prior to Seton Hall, Mason was a member of the women's volleyball team at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida. A two-time all-conference selection, she helped the Hawks finish third at the NJCAA National Championships in 2015, the same year she helped lead the team to a Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) State Championship.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, Mason graduated from Seton Hall in 2018 with a Bachelor of Social & Behavioral Science. She also earned an Associate of Arts from Hillsborough in 2016.
