The Ivy Race: Columbia leads at 4-0 (12 points), ahead of Princeton at 3-1 (nine points), Yale and Brown each at 2-1-1 (seven points), Harvard at 1-2-1 (four points), Cornell at 1-3 (three points), Penn at 0-2-2 (two points) and Dartmouth at 0-3-1 (one point). As Princeton ends the regular season at Columbia, Princeton can win the Ivy League title and host the Ivy League Tournament by winning its last three Ivy games, which would put the Tigers at 6-1 with 18 points, even if the Lions also finish at 6-1, thanks to the head-to-head tiebreaker. Saturday's game is also big for the Crimson, who are presently three points out of the final Ivy League Tournament spot.Â
The Series with Harvard: All-time, Princeton is 28-13-2 against the Crimson. Harvard is 2-0-1 in the last three games since Princeton's last win over the Crimson, a 1-0 victory at Harvard in 2021. The 2023 game, a 1-1 tie at Harvard, saw Jade Rose score the equalizer in the 41st minute while Tyler McCamey stopped six shots to save the draw. The most recent meeting was in the 2023 Ivy League Tournament semifinals, a 4-2 Harvard win at Brown. Josefine Hasbo and Ólöf Kristinsdóttir had two of the four goals for Harvard while Heather MacNab had one of the two for Princeton. McCamey had four saves in the loss. Rhiannon Stewart, who has played all 1,080 minutes in goal this season, has not played against Princeton.Â
Stingy Tigers: Sunday's game against Yale was the first time that Princeton allowed more than one goal, and Yale's first goal ended a shutout streak of 388:49 since Princeton had last allowed a goal, Sept. 18 at Fairfield. Princeton has outscored its opponents 24-7 this season with six shutouts. At home, Princeton has outscored opponents 18-4 this season.Â
Stat Rankings: As a team, Princeton entered the week ranked 13th in the nation in save percentage (.865) and 16th in GAA (0.583). Tyler McCamey is 18th in save percentage, at .860.Â
On Offense: Princeton has had 13 goal scorers this season with Isabella Garces (four) and Alexandra Barry, Brooke Dawahare and Pietra Tordin (three each) leading the way. Of the 13 goal scorers, seven scored her first career goal this season. Kayla Wong became the 13th goal scorer with her goal at Yale on Sunday.
Tordin Climbs the Chart: Junior Pietra Tordin, who made her season debut on Oct. 1 after helping Team USA to third place at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Colombia, stands 12th in program history with 23 career goals. Just two more goals will tie her for 10th in program history, and with six more, she'd be alone in seventh place. Tyler Lussi '17 holds the program record with 53 goals, and two of the top three in program history played for Sean Driscoll, with Mimi Asom '19 third at 43. At the U-20 WWC, Tordin scored four goals, leading Team USA and becoming the first U.S. player to net a hat trick at the U-20 WWC, which she did against Paraguay in the group-stage final, since 2018, and the team's highest goal scorer at the U-20 WWC since 2012. Tordin was one of two Tigers at the U-20 WWC, with sophomore backliner Zoe Markesini helping Canada to the knockout round. It was Markesini's second age-group WWC with Canada, along with the U-17 event in India in 2022.Â
Coach Driscoll: A three-time Ivy Coach of the Year, Sean Driscoll has led Princeton to three Ivy titles, five NCAA tournament appearances, four trips to the NCAA second round and one of those to the NCAA quarterfinals, Sean Driscoll leads all active Ivy League coaches in wins at their current posts, with 101. Next are Brown's Kia McNeill (84), Columbia's Tracey Bartholomew (80), and Harvard's Chris Hamblin (79).Â
On Harvard: The Crimson started the season with four straight shutouts, and after a seven-game run without a shutout, Harvard had its fifth clean sheet of the season on Sunday with a 5-0 win over Cornell. Josefine Hasbo leads the team's 11 goal scorers with six goals while Áslaug Gunnlaugsdóttir adding four. Rhiannon Stewart has played every minute in goal, with an 0.92 GAA and an .833 save percentage. The Crimson have finished in the top half of the league in all five competitive seasons after 2017, when the Crimson finished sixth at 2-4-1. A third Ivy loss would be the first time since that 2017 season that the Crimson lost three or more Ivy games.Â
Up Next: Princeton will play the Ivy League's final regular-season non-league game on Tuesday, Oct. 22 when it heads to UMBC for the first-ever meeting between the teams. The Ivy season will resume for the Tigers next Saturday, Oct. 26, with the regular-season home finale against Dartmouth.Â
