Princeton's pair of FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup participants received honors this week after a pair of winning efforts for the Tigers.
In just her second game back from helping the U.S. U-20 women's soccer team to third place at the U-20 event in Colombia, Pietra Tordin pumped in three goals to help Princeton to an 8-0 win over four-time defending Ivy champion Brown on Saturday, earning her the honor as the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week.Â
Tordin had an assist in her season debut last Tuesday in a 3-0 win over Lafayette, making it a seven-point week for the Tiger junior. The hat trick lifted her to 23 career goals, tied for 12th-most in program history. The hat trick was Tordin's second of her career, adding to her four-goal game against Army West Point last season.
Zoe Markesini, a sophomore backliner who helped Canada to the knockout round at the U-20 tournament, had an assist each in the games against Lafayette and Brown, on the first goal against the Leopards and the third against the Bears, for her first two points on the season. For her efforts, Markesini was one of 11 players from across Division I named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.
Princeton (7-3, 2-0) will take a three-game winning streak, all by shutout, into Wednesday's visit from Penn.Â
