Women's Soccer Adds Ivy League Tourney Title to Ivy Title Season, Awaits NCAA Bid
November 10, 2024 | Women's Soccer
A week after winning the program's Ivy League 11th Ivy League championship, the Princeton women's soccer team added its first Ivy League Tournament title, defeating Brown 2-0 in Sunday's final at Roberts Stadium.
With the Ivy tournament title comes the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Princeton's opponent and destination will be announced during a Monday 4 p.m. selection show streamed on NCAA.com.
A 34th-minute goal from Drew Coomans opened the scoring, and Lily Bryant's 47th-minute goal pushed the lead to 2-0 on a day when Princeton outshot Brown 11-4 overall and 8-3 on goal. Tyler McCamey made all three stops to earn her eighth shutout of the season.
Â
In just the second year of the current incarnation of the Ivy League Tournament, Princeton becomes the first team to win both the Ivy League championship and the Ivy League Tournament championship in the same season.Â
Pietra Tordin, who scored twice in Princeton's 3-1 win over Harvard in Friday's semifinal, Coomans, who assisted on two goals against Harvard before scoring Sunday's first goal, Heather MacNab, who had two assists on Sunday, and McCamey, who saved six of seven shots on goal over the weekend, were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Coomans as the Most Outstanding Player.
