Women's Basketball Falls To Quinnipiac, 74-66

HAMDEN – The Quinnipiac Bobcats defeated the Princeton Women's Basketball Team, 74-66, at the MT&T Bank Arena on Saturday afternoon.
An 8-0 run by the Bobcats put them in front, 11-4, at the halfway mark of the first quarter, but the Tigers got the contest back within a possession, 14-12, in two and half minutes. The home team would go onto lead, 22-14, at the end of the frame.
Princeton turned around an eight-point deficit into a one-point advantage, 29-28, with an 11-2 sprint, but a Jackie Grisdale bucket put Quinnipiac back ahead, 30-29, at the break.
The Bobcats extended their advantage to nine in the third stanza, but Tabitha Amanze scored on consecutive possessions to cut the deficit to four, 54-50, as the fourth frame got underway.
Down 12, head coach Carla Berube's group made one more run, making it a six-point contest, 66-60, with 2:56 to go, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout.
Quinnipiac's Gai Raviv sank a mid-range basket with 1:45 to answer the Princeton rally while the Bobcats hit six free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Skye Belker led the Tigers with 15 points and five assists while Ashley Chea knocked down four treys for 14 points in the loss. Fadima Tall had a personal-best 13 points, corralling six rebounds and four steals as well.
Princeton falls to 2-2 overall and will head to Seton Hall on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
