Belker Paces Women's Basketball in Thrilling Win Over Seton Hall, 78-75

SOUTH ORANGE – The Princeton Women's Basketball Team shot 62 percent from the floor en route to a 78-75 victory over the Seton Hall Pirates at Walsh Gym on Thursday evening.
In front by five, 66-61, with 4:41 to go, Cristina Parrella knocked down two corner treys on consecutive possessions to extend the lead to 11, 72-61. Seton Hall made one more push, cutting the deficit to five, 74-69, with 2:16 left, but Princeton hit four free throws down the stretch to clinch the game.
Skye Belker matched her career high with 21 points while adding a personal-best six assists. Tabitha Amanze also had a new career mark with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
Neither team led by more than five points in the first quarter before Toby Nweke's put back at the buzzer got the Tigers within one, 20-19.
Princeton ran out with a 10-2 sprint in the second stanza to go up nine, 35-26, as the clock read 3:37 and eventually took a 39-31 advantage into halftime. The Tigers went 7-of-10 during that stretch, hitting five three-pointers.
The Tigers expanded their lead to 16 in the third frame, but Seton Hall made a frantic push, ending the quarter on a 14-2 run to make it a 58-54 contest after 30 minutes.
Ashley Chea and Fadima Tall also scored in double figures for Princeton with 10 points each. Parker Hill (+16) and Olivia Hutcherson (+15) led the team in plus/minus in the victory. This is the sixth win for Princeton over Seton Hall in the last eight meetings.
Head coach Carla Berube's team went 12-of-19 from deep, finishing at 63.2 percent. Tonight was the first time Princeton had shot over 60 percent since February 27, 2016 at Cornell (94-57 win, 67.3 percent).
Princeton heads to Rutgers on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
