Wrestling Splits Duals At Jersey Jostle

Princeton split a pair of dual meets to open the 2024-25 season, rebounding to knock off LIU (28-14) after losing the first dual of the day at the Jersey Jostle to No. 7 N.C. State (34-6).
Princeton two Top-15 ranked wrestlers in No. 8 Ty Whalen and No. 15 Luke Stout each won both of their matches to highlight Princeton's individual performances at the Jersey Jostle hosted at the RWJ Barnabas Arena in Toms River, N.J.
Ranked No. 7 as a team in the latest NWCA Dual Meet Rankings, N.C. State received wins from all seven of its wrestlers ranked in the latest FloWrestling individual rankings. No. 8 Ty Whalen got the Tigers on the board with an 8-3 decision over No. 31 Koy Buegsens at 149 pounds, but four consecutive wins from ranked Wolfpack wrestlers extended Princeton's deficit to 28-3 before Stout gutted out a 4-1 win in overtime at 197 for the second win of the dual for Princeton.
In the nightcap, the Tigers found. themselves trailing, 14-11, after six matches before claiming each of the final four bouts to storm back for the 28-14 victory. The Tigers recorded four wins with bonus points, including a tech fall from Dan Jones at 133, major decisions from Xavier Giles (174) and Sebastian Garibaldi (285), and an injury default win from Stout.
Mike Squires had a key win at 184 as he knocked off LIU's No. 32-ranked Anthony D'Alesio, 5-2.
