Volker Shines On Senior Day as Football Drops Penn, 20-17
November 23, 2024 | Football
The captain who was the last person to be honored on Senior Day made the first and last impressions for the 3,914 people in attendance for Princeton and Penn at Princeton Stadium.
Volker sprinted out with a 75-yard touchdown on the contest's first offensive play, the longest rush for Princeton since Collin Eaddy's 75-yard touchdown at Yale in 2018.
The running back also finished off the Quakers with a first down rush after the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter which allowed the Tigers to kneel three times to run the clock out.House Call.@JohnVolker3 | #JUICE ???? pic.twitter.com/OXvp41SV1C

In all, Volker had 170 all-purpose yards (130 on the ground and 40 receiving) to finish off his career and the Class of 2025's time at Princeton with a 20-17 victory over Penn.
Penn responded to the Volker scamper with a seven-yard touchdown from Liam O'Brien to Julien Stokes as the first quarter ended.
After the two teams exchanged field goals, Penn's Bisi Owens caught a six-yard touchdown with 16 seconds left in the first half, giving the road squad a 17-10 advantage.
Following halftime, Princeton's defense shined forcing three fumbles, two punts, an interception and a turnover on downs. After allowing 216 yards in the first half, the Tigers gave up just 108 yards over seven second drives.
Jeffrey Sexton hit a 33-yard field goal to cut the Tigers' deficit to four in the third quarter. On the next possession for Penn, AJ Pigford sacked O'Brien, forcing a fumble which Caden Wright scooped up and ran into the end zone. It was the first fumble recovery for a touchdown for Princeton since Liam Johnson against the Quakers in 2022.
