Women’s Hockey Sweeps The Weekend With Win At Dartmouth
November 09, 2024 | Women's Ice Hockey
HANOVER, N.H.- Coming off a victory in Cambridge, the Princeton women's hockey team was hungry for another as the Tigers took on the Dartmouth Big Green.
Issy Wunder got Princeton on the board first with off the assist from Emerson O'Leary.
Dartmouth evened the score in the closing seconds of the first period on a goal from Lauren Messier.
The Tigers pushed the pace in the second and took back the lead on a Sarah Paul power play goal. Paul has scored eight goals this season and this was her sixth with the man advantage.
Princeton held a 2-1 lead going into the final frame before chaos ensued. The Big Green tied things up at two apiece off Kenzie Bachelor's tally.
Angelina DiGirolamo would find the back of the net to take back the lead with her second goal of the weekend. Wunder and Alexander each notched their second points of the game on the helpers.
Looking to add to the Princeton lead, Katherine Khramtsov received the pass from Wunder and was off to the races. She had the step on the Dartmouth defender and weaved past the keeper to make it a 4-2 game.
The Big Green responded quickly as Laura Fuoco was in just the right spot for the tip-in to cut the Tigers' lead to one.
Dartmouth was back on the power play in the final minute of regulation and pulled the goalie to give the offense another extra attacker. Facing all the pressure, Jennifer Olnowich did not waver. The Princeton keeper deflected a long-range shot and the puck was immediately back in Dartmouth's possession. Fuoco took the shot as Olnowich made a diving save to stonewall the Big Green and close out the game for a 4-3 Princeton victory.
DiGirolamo, Wunder and Alexander all had two points each and Olnowich made 26 stops in net.
Princeton will have the next weekend off from games before the team hosts Colgate at Baker Rink on Nov. 22 with the game scheduled for 6:00 PM.
