Wunder Overtime Goal Takes Down No. 5 Colgate

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Princeton women's ice hockey team headed into overtime tied 3-3 with the Colgate Raiders, the number five ranked team in the country.
The teams traded goals back and forth sending the game to the extra period of play. Colgate won the faceoff and quickly took a shot. Jane Kuehl shot the puck wide before the Raiders rattled off two more that were stopped by the Tiger defense. Gabby Kim blocked a shot and got the puck to Issy Wunder who made a beautiful move to send the puck to the back of the net to finish off Colgate.

The Friday night matchup started off with Princeton taking several advantages on the power play. The Tigers pounced quickly with Teja Gatfield pushing the puck in for her first collegiate goal, giving Princeton a 1-0 lead.
The Raiders forced a power play opportunity of their own and took four shots before Kristýna Kaltounkova tied things up.Â
The second period was filled with scoring as Mackenzie Alexander got past the Colgate defender and take back the lead.Â

Colgate's Madeline Palumbo scored just a few minutes later on an even strength goal to make it a 2-2 game.
Looking to have the advantage going into the final period, Princeton pumped up the pressure. Wunder circled around the net and passed the puck into the center. Sarah Paul ripped off a shot into the top of the goal.
The Raiders evened the score with 13 minutes remaining in regulation with a goal from Alexis Petford. Both teams had their opportunities, but the clock hit zero and sent the game into overtime where Princeton closed out the game with the win.
The win is the highest ranked win for Princeton since defeating No. 3 Colgate in game 1 of the 2023 ECAC quarterfinals.
Jennifer Olnowich recorded 33 saves between the pipes for her second 30-save game of the season.Â
The Tigers will be back at Baker Rink to take on No. 8 Cornell at 3:00 PM.
