
Men's Basketball Outlasts Monmouth, 71-67

PRINCETON, N.J. – Powered by three double figure scorers, the Princeton University men's basketball team outlasted Monmouth, 71-67, Tuesday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium in a game that featured 25 lead changes.
Junior Xaivian Lee led the Tigers with a team-high 23 points, a game-high six assists, six rebounds, which tied the game-high along with a team-high three steals. He also exceeded 200 career assists, bringing his total to 202. Senior Blake Peters added 14 points and went 4-for-8 from three, bringing his career total to 152, just one spot behind Ryan Langborg '23, who ranks No. 13 on the Tigers' all-time list. Sophomore Dalen Davis added 11 points and four rebounds for Princeton.
The game was played to a stalemate at 12-12 with 14:17 on the clock after a layup by Lee, but the Hawks would edge ahead, 17-14, with 10:55 remaining in the half. The Tigers battled back to take an 18-17 lead at 7:07 following layups by Davis and freshman Peyton Seals.
A pair of free throws by sophomore Jacob Huggins put Princeton 32-30 with 16:42 left to play as the second half continued as a back-and-forth battle. The Tigers and Hawks would trade the lead; a Huggins free throw followed by a Byriel three-pointer with 8:12 remaining put the Tigers ahead 45-42 but Monmouth battled back and gained a 55-51 advantage at 5:21.
