Mitchell Honored as Ivy Defensive Player Of The Year; Three Tigers Selected All-Ivy

PRINCETON – The No. 24 Princeton Women's Basketball Team picked up three All-Ivy selections in Kaitlyn Chen, Ellie Mitchell and Madison St. Rose, the conference announced today.

Chen was one of only two unanimous First-Team All-Ivy selections (Columbia's Abbey Hsu) as paced the Tigers in scoring (15.9) while shooting a career high from the floor (49.1) and from the three-point line (32.2). She has 10 double-digit performances in the last 11 games and 23 overall this season along with six 20+ point outings.

The two-time First-Team All-Ivy selection set a new personal best with 136 helpers as she's 39th in the country in assists per game (5.0), 70th in total assists and 77th in assist/turnover ratio (1.92). Chen has produced 3.8 offensive win shares which is in the 98th percentile among NCAA players and an offensive rating of 114.4 which sits in the 94th percentile.

Mitchell was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year for the third time in her career in addition to being picked as Second-Team All-Ivy. The Tigers' scoring defense ranks No. 18 in the country at 56.0 points per contest while the 2024 Ivy League Regular Season Champions are No. 20 in Her Hoops Stats Defensive Rating (82.1), a statistic that controls for pace and adjusts defensive rating for the strength of the offenses teams have faced.

The senior captain has a defensive rating of 78.5, good for the 98th percentile in the country and is among the best rebounders in the game as she is 19th in offensive rebounds (4.0), 32nd in rebounds per game (10.0) and 49th in total rebounds (269).

St. Rose is second on the squad in scoring at 14.2 points per game. She has raised her scoring output from 8.8 as a freshman to 14.2 as a sophomore along with her shooting percentage (.361-.428) and three-point percentage (.255-.347). St. Rose has scored in double figures 21 times this season and has already surpassed her total field goals (152), three-point total (42-27), assists (37-20) and steals (44-28) than her freshman campaign.Â
