Mallery Matches Her Career High With Five Goals In No. 8 Women's Water Polo's 14-9 Win Over Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The No. 8 Princeton Women's Water Polo Team got back on track with a 14-9 victory over the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens.
Kate Mallery tied a career best with five goals, including a first half hat trick.
Meera Burghardt netted the first two goals for the Tigers in a competitive 1st quarter with Princeton taking a 5-3 lead. The Tigers proceeded to score three straight goals, including Mallery's third tally with 4:21 remaining in the 2nd quarter, putting the Tigers up by five. Head coach Derek Ellingson's crew would take a 9-4 lead into halftime.
The third quarter featured two successful 5-meter penalty shots scored by Kaila Carroll and Kayla Yelensky. The Tigers led by six goals before the Sagehens cut the deficit to 13-9. Carroll scored the lone goal in the fourth quarter, recording her fifth hat trick of the season.
Lindsey Lucas contributed 9 saves in the victory.
Princeton will face No. 12 LMU on Friday (8 p.m. / 5 p.m. PT).
