No. 30 Men's Tennis Downs Penn, 4-2, To Open Ivy Play
March 30, 2024 | Men's Tennis
PHILADELPHIA – Ivy League play opened for the No. 30 Princeton University men's tennis team at the University of Pennsylvania Saturday afternoon as the Tigers took down the Quakers, 4-2.
"We had to battle today to earn a hard-fought win," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "Similar to our match six weeks ago at Penn we lost the doubles but rallied well in singles. Today we needed to work through some tight spots and I was really pleased to see the guys respond with confidence and resilience in those moments. Penn is a young, tough team that will come after you and fight for every inch so we knew it would be a tightly contested match."
Despite Alan Kam and Sebastian Sec earning a 6-2 win at No. 3 over Matthew Rutter and Baylor Sai, the Quakers won the doubles point.
Princeton bounced back in singles, with Fnu Nidunjianzan defeating Kian Vakili at No. 2, 6-1, 6-4, then Landon Ardila dispatching Aaron Sandler at No. 4, 6-4, 6-3. No. 40 Inchasupe triumphed at No. 1 over Manfredi Graziani, 7-5, 6-3, then at No. 3 Sec clinched the match in a three-set battle against Sai, 6-7, 6-0, 6-1.
