
Men's Track & Field Wraps Up Competition at Sam Howell Invitational

PRINCETON, NJ - The Princeton men's track and field team had a strong showing to open the 2024 outdoor season at the Sam Howell Invitational hosted at Weaver Stadium this Saturday.
The Princeton A relay team set a new meet record and placed first in the 4x100 with a time of 39.83. The team was made up of Zach Della Rocca, Jackson Clarke, Daniel Duncan and Joey Gant.
Princeton completed a 1-2-3 sweep in the men's 400m with Xavier Donaldson out in front setting a new meet record of 46.88 seconds. Anderson Dimon and Kavon Miller followed in second and third place respectively. Another 1-2-3 sweep was accomplished in the 100m as well. Jackson Clarke led the pack, finishing with a time of 10.32. Zach Della Rocca placed second with a time of 10.44, and Joey Gant placed third with a time of 10.49. In the 200m, Jackson Clarke and Zach Della Rocca placed first and second again. The 200m saw Jackson Clarke break a meet record with a time of 20.83.
In the distance events the Tigers had three individual first-place finishers. Jackson Shorten fought for a first-place finish, crossing the finish line in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 8:57.11. Harrison Witt also took first in the men's 1500m, walking away with a time of 3:47.74. Finally, Connor Nisbet took home first in the men's 10,000m run, clocking in at 26:56.67 with Jarrett Kirk hot on his heels for a second-place finish with a time of 28:56.68.
In the 110m hurdles, Easton Tan finished in second with a time of 14.22. In the men's 4x400, Princeton took home a second place finish with a team consisting of Xavier Donaldson, Ladislav Topfer, Kavon Miller, and Gianluca Bianchi and a time of 3:16.35. In the men's 800m elite race, Harrison Witt placed a commendable third with a time of 1:49.17.
In the field, Sebastian Clatworthy won the high jump event for Princeton with a mark of 2.07m (6-9.50). Moving over to the discus throw, Princeton had a great showing with Avery Shunneson taking first place with a throw of 53.22m (174-7), while Joe Licata and Tyler Konopka placed third and fourth in the event. Tyler Konopka placed second in the shot put with a mark of 17.14m (56-2.75) while Joe Licata came in fourth with a mark of 16.66m (54-8). Also in the field, Nick Molloy came in third in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.90m (16-0.75).
