No. 17 Women's Lacrosse Falls At No. 7 Loyola
April 10, 2024 | Women's Lacrosse
A fast start from No. 7 Loyola was too much for No. 17 Princeton to overcome in a 21-11 loss in Baltimore.
McKenzie Blake, who had five goals in each of Princeton's last two games, scored four times in give her 38 for the season. Haven Dora had three goals and an assist for a four-point game of her own. Nina Montes pitched in two goals, while Grace Tauckus added two free position scores.
The Greyhounds (12-1) scored the game's first four goals to build a 4-0 lead 8:31 into the game. McKenzie Blake ended the drought with the first of her four goals in the game, but one more goal from Loyola before the end of the first period resulted in a 5-1 Princeton deficit after 15:00 of play.
The second quarter was more of the same as Loyola scored four times while Nina Montes and Blake added markers for the Tigers who trailed, 9-3, at the end of the first half.
Princeton mounted a bit of a rally in the third quarter, scoring four consecutive goals in a span of 2:33 to climb within three. Haven Dora and McKenzie Blake each had two goals in the quick spurt for Princeton, but Loyola countered with four of their own in consecutive fashion to lead by a score of 14-7 after three quarters.
Montes tacked on a free position to open the fourth quarter, but the Greyhounds answered with two quick goals from Chase Boyle to all but end any chance of a Princeton comeback.
Grace Tauckus had a free position with just under 11:00 left to get on the scoreboard, and Haven Dora added a free position of her own with 10:00 remaining.
The Tigers return to Ivy League play on Saturday, taking on No. 25 Brown in Providence at noon.
