Wright Sets Ivy Saves Record as Princeton Hits 20-Win Mark
April 17, 2024 | Softball
Meghan Harrington, Molly Chambers and Brielle Wright combined to turn in a four-hit shutout of Monmouth on Wednesday afternoon at Princeton Softball Stadium at Strubing Field as the Tigers won their 20th game of the season, 3-0.
Karis Ford got Princeton (20-11) on the board with her pinch-hit leadoff homer in the fourth inning, the rookie's second of her Tiger career, and the lead grew to 2-0 later that inning when Sonia Zhang followed a Caitlin Bish one-out single with an RBI double. The sixth inning saw singles from Ford and Grace Jackson before a Bish sacrifice and a Lauren Pappert ground ball to score Ford and make it 3-0.
That was more than enough for the Tiger trio of pitchers, with Harrington going three innings, allowing three walks and striking out three with no hits, before Molly Chambers went two innings, allowing three hits without a walk, and Wright closed it out with two innings, five Ks, and just a hit allowed.

The save was Wright's eighth of the season, continuing a run of matching or setting Ivy or Princeton program records. The eighth save surpassed the record set last season by Harvard's Riley Flynn, and it was Wright's ninth save of her career, tying the program mark set five years ago by Riley Wilkinson '19. Wright's next save would set the program record and tie the Ivy career record of 10, set by a pair of Harvard pitchers in Rachel Brown (2009-12) and Katie Duncan (2016-19).
The win extends Princeton's winning streak to five games as it gets set to head to Yale for a three-game series against the first-place Bulldogs. Princeton stands second in the league at 8-4 with Yale leading at 12-3.
